Theresa Freeman-Wang, MD
Dear colleagues,
It is a great honour to serve as the 20th President of the IFCPC—and the first woman to hold this role in our Federation’s 54-year history.
Our recent hugely successful World Congress in Versailles reminded us of the strength of our global community. Through education, training, and collaboration with an agreed terminology, we continue to build a shared vision for excellence in colposcopy, cervical disease management and prevention.
Today, the IFCPC represents 52 countries united by one purpose: to help eliminate cervical cancer. Yet every two minutes, a woman still dies from this preventable disease. This must—and can—change.
Our role is clear: to educate, to train, to encourage research and innovation and to ensure women everywhere have access to safe, effective prevention and treatment. By promoting HPV vaccination, screening, and providing timely care of cervical and other HPV related disease, we can make a real and lasting impact.
A Call to Action
Together, we are more than a Federation—we are a global movement for change.
As Lao Tzu said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
Many steps have already been taken under the guidance of each of my predecessors, but now as 2030 approaches, we must continue with purpose and determination to walk further and faster together.
With kind regards,
Theresa Freeman-Wang
President, IFCPC
