Human papillomavirus (HPV) is one of the most common viral etiologies of sexually transmitted genital infections in sexually active women. In the genital area during pregnancy, genital warts or low- and high-grade intraepithelial lesions occur, as well as a lower incidence of malignant neoplasia. Diseases associated with HPV infection during pregnancy should be documented and treated according to guidelines and evidence, when detected, to reduce the risk of transmission to the newborn.
